Introduction

Kunming, the capital of Yunan Province, with a history of more than 2,400 years, home to an estimated 8 million people. Its laid-back atmosphere, lack of pollution and pleasant climate, allows it to become a common favourite among Chinese cities.

One front on which Kunming continues to distinguish itself from other urban sprawls is the relative absence of pollution. It was known as the 'The City Of Eternal Spring' for its unusual temperature climate. Kunming generally wakes up to temperate, sunny mornings. The winters are mild, but the altitude ensures that the summers are pleasantly cool. Not to mention, the city is the political, economical and cultural center of Yunnan, and the provincial center for transport, science and technology.
